I don't now what you mean by "quick photo shoot?" If it involves equipment you may have to ask for permission - al my pictures are taken with the iPhone.

Amtrak will take you to 30th St. station and you would have to take a taxi to the Museum - public transportation is complicated

It depends on how interested you are in ancient cultures. I would say someone with LITTLE interest could still easily spend an hour in this amazing museum. A person with A LOT of interest in ancient cultures should expect to spend two to three hours.
