Italy midfielder Jorginho has joined Brazilian side Flamengo ahead of this month's Club World Cup, following a mutual termination of his contract with Arsenal, both clubs said.

However, Arsenal have now moved to mutually agree a slightly premature departure for Jorginho, allowing him to become a free agent and join Brazilian giants Flamengo in time for the inaugural expanded summer Club World Cup, which begins in the United States later this month.

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel says he is "proud" to have signed a new long-term deal that will keep him at the club until 2029. Gabriel has been a key player under Mikel Arteta since signing from Lille in September 2020 and he hopes the hard work of the past few seasons will result in long-awaited silverware.
