Karate Kid: Legends put up a decent fight, but couldn’t strike down mammoth competitors like Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning at the box office. The Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio-led sequel sparred its way to $21 million in its opening weekend—a decent haul but lower than Deadline‘s initial projections.
Listen, Jackie Chan is a martial arts legend, so when he's cast in a movie like Karate Kid: Legends, you know he's going to deliver. Director Jonathan Entwistle definitely got to see Chan's skills firsthand.

“Legends” hits theaters just a few months after “Cobra Kai” streamed its sixth and final season. In order not to confuse the greater “Karate Kid” audience,” “Legends,” originally set to premiere before “Cobra Kai” dropped its final installment, saw its release date delayed.
Chan has been acting since the 1960s and is a legend of fight choreography. He performs all of his own stunts “Karate Kid: Legends.” But he’s slowed down with age. Chan laughs, “I’m not liked I used to be when I was 20, and could do a triple kick in the sky. Now, I do one kick.” But, it’s still all him.
Like other entries in the franchise, the film does indeed conclude with a triumphant freeze frame — but test audiences wanted more.
