A fire has broken out at a Marathon Petroleum refinery in Texas City, emergency officials say. The Texas City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) first posted about the fire at 12:25 p.m. The refinery is located on 5th Avenue South east of 25th Street South.

Residents in parts of Texas City were ordered to shelter in place Saturday after a massive fire broke out at the Marathon Oil refinery near Bay Street.

Texas City officials issued the precautionary shelter-in-place to residents that live along 29th Street and Bay Street after the fire was reported at the Marathon plant Saturday afternoon at about 12: 20 p.m. The shelter-in-place was lifted at 2:14 p.m.
