When Rich Hill took the mound for the Royals on Tuesday, it was the same spot the left-hander made his MLB debut 20 years ago on June 15, 2005, with the Chicago Cubs. After 20 years, Hill is still contributing in the Majors.
Hill is 90-74 with a 4.01 ERA in 368 career MLB games. He has pitched 1,409 innings and has struck out 1,428. In corresponding moves, the Royals optioned right-hander Andrew Hoffman to Omaha and designated outfielder Tyler Gentry for assignment.
Rich Hill is expected to join the Kansas City Royals on Monday, marking the 14th team of his career, tying the MLB record.
Todd Zola: A rare full Monday slate gets underway at 6:40 p.m. ET with a pair of contests. A couple of spots may be wet, most likely the Chicago White Sox at Tampa Bay Rays and the St. Louis Cardinals visiting the Colorado Rockies, but both games are expected to be played.
The bearded left-hander is attempting to get back to MLB through the Kansas City Royals' organization. And on Friday for the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers, Keuchel was sharp. He went 4.1 innings, allowing three hits and no runs while striking out five.
