Omagh bombing survivor tells inquiry he placed sheets over victims’ bodies - The Omagh Bombing Inquiry is hearing accounts from survivors and people who were injured in the 1998 Real IRA massacre.

The Omagh Bombing Inquiry is continuing with four weeks of public commemorative hearings, recalling the lives of and hearing tributes to all those killed and impacted by the 1998 Real IRA atrocity which killed 29 people, including a mother pregnant with twins.

The assertion came during the second week of commemorative hearings for the victims at the Omagh Bombing Inquiry. Twenty-nine people, including a woman pregnant with twins, died in the Real IRA attack on August 15 1998. The inquiry is examining whether the bombing could reasonably have been prevented by the security forces.

A student killed in the Omagh bombing was a year out from graduating at Dundee University when she died, a public inquiry has heard. A statement from the twin brother of Julia Hughes said they had shared an “unbreakable bond” and that the grief of her loss was “insurmountable”.
