A Northwest Side man facing a felony charge in connection with the shooting death of his pregnant girlfriend was released from custody Saturday but ordered to turn in any guns to Chicago police, according to court records.

Edith Castrejon was about six months pregnant, and doctors were able to remove the baby, who reportedly is in critical condition.

According to court documents, Robert Pasco, 42, was sleeping with a gun under his pillow last week when his pregnant girlfriend — Edith Castrejon, 35 — reached over and grabbed it.

Police were interviewing a person of interest after the attack, which happened around 4:50 a.m. in the 5800 block of West Newport Avenue.
