Stanford University’s student-run newspaper sued the Trump administration on Wednesday over its decision to use part of a federal immigration law to target and deport pro-Palestinian activists, arguing the government’s effort has impermissibly chilled students’ First Amendment rights.

The Stanford Daily accused the administration of using immigration provisions to threaten deportation, leading to censorship and violating First Amendment rights.

Stanford University’s independent student newspaper on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against two Trump administration officials, claiming some of its writers in the U.S. on student visas have “self-censored” to avoid being targeted for deportation.
