After Ian Murphy put Notre Dame up first with his goal 7 minutes, 43 seconds into the first period, Jimmy Snuggerud answered just under five minutes later. When Carter Slaggert scored a go-ahead goal 2 minutes, 25 seconds into the second period, Luke Mittelstadt had another answer 3 minutes, 5 seconds later, knotting it back up at 2-2.

Snuggerud tied the score 1-1 at 12:33 of the first with his 15th goal of the season, and it was a beauty. On the play, Snuggerud raced past Notre Dame defenseman Jaedon Kerr, cut toward the net, toe-dragged the puck to get Say to commit and fired the puck through the five hole.

The No. 3 Minnesota men's hockey team scored five times in the first period and cruised to a 5-2 victory over visiting Notre Dame from 3M Arena at Mariucci Friday night.
