The Steam Machine is Valve's new piece of hardware entering the scene as a mini PC built for living room gaming. I love a lot about it, had some issues with it, but overall came away from my time with it feeling very positive.

Steam Machine review: A singular living room PC that's more expensive than I'd like, but too special not to love
The Steam Machine is pricey, but it's still a decent games device and, more importantly, a singularly suitable PC for living room duty. Here's our full review.
In an 8/10 review from IGN, Jacqueline Thomas hammered home the appeal of the Steam Machine. You're getting a plug-and-play PC that's as easy to boot up as a console. The setup is simple, so you can start playing games quickly without fiddling with settings. Thomas argues that the real appeal, though, is in its Linux integration.
That $1049 is just the starting price, getting you just the 512GB version of the mini gaming PC without the Steam Controller. If you do want to add the Steam Controller, there is a bundle for $1128, which means you're getting Valve's controller for $79, rather than the $99 it'll cost you by itself.
