Timothy Gaspar and Jose Ugarte continue Thursday to lead their open races for Los Angeles City Council seats in the southwest San Fernando Valley and South Los Angeles. The city’s eight odd-numbered districts were on the primary election ballot in Los Angeles.

Here in Los Angeles, voters (who are overwhelmingly Democrats) have been paying attention to both the mayor’s race and the governor’s race, but most people haven’t been excited about any of the candidates. Many say they’re voting for the most palatable of lackluster options, or voting against candidates they can’t stand.
