Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman responds to team's dropping in College Football Playoff rankings
Freeman told NBC News on Wednesday he will “agree to disagree” after the Fighting Irish were dropped to 10th in the latest CFP rankings.
Undefeated Ohio State and Indiana remained at 1 and 2 in the rankings, while Georgia moved to third and Texas Tech rose to No. 4. The rest of the top 12: Oregon, Mississippi, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame, BYU and Miami.
The development could have massive consequences for the ACC if unranked Duke wins the conference championship. The CFP selection process doesn’t guarantee a berth for the ACC winner. The five automatic bids are assigned to the highest-ranked conference champions. If No. 17 Virginia wins the ACC, the Cavaliers will qualify.
Notre Dame football is expected to sign the bulk of its 2026 recruiting class today, Wednesday Dec. 3. It's a consensus top-5 recruiting class, according to the major recruiting websites, headlines by three, five-star prospects in defensive end Rodney Durham, tight end Ian Premer and safety Joey O'Brien.
