International Observe the Moon Night starts on Saturday, according to NASA. That event began in 2010 for lunar lovers around the world to join in celebration of Earth's natural satellite. You can join the event virtually or in person by connecting with skywatchers on NASA's International Observe the Moon's interactive map.

The Harvest Moon, the traditional name given to the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, which provides extra light for fall harvests. A supermoon, which means it will appear slightly larger and brighter than a typical full moon due to its proximity to Earth.

Amber Galeazzi captured the partial eclipse of the full “harvest moon” Tuesday night from her home on Iron Mountain’s north side. The event was enhanced by it being a supermoon. A partial lunar eclipse occurs when Earth moves between the sun and the full moon without being perfectly aligned.
