The year was 1966. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which carries passengers from Palm Springs up to the San Jacinto Mountains nearly 6,000 feet above, had opened a few years prior to great fanfare.

Just south of downtown, the tram starts near the cruise ship dock. The five-minute ride takes you 1,800 feet halfway up the mountain for some spectacular views of Juneau and Gastineau Channel.

After riding the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada, those who make the trek will experience views of six mountain ranges, colorful rivers and lakes, and the town of Jasper.

In 2021, the resort decoupled lift tickets and tram access, charging skiers on a per-use basis—alongside their separate lift ticket purchase—to control skier and snowboarder traffic up Lone Mountain.
