Are Trump’s supporters getting what they want from his second term? Here’s what a new poll shows
A new AP-NORC poll finds nearly a year into President Donald Trump’s second term, his work on the economy hasn’t lived up to the expectations of many people in his own party.
According to polling, both President Trump and his policies are widely unpopular as he marks a year in office.
Forty-seven percent of Americans said Trump is mostly focused on the wrong priorities, according to the new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. This is slightly higher than the 44% who said the same in April 2025.
CNN's poll, which was conducted by SSRS between January 9-12, found that 58 percent of Americans called Trump's first year back in office a "failure," while 42 percent labeled it a "success." Meanwhile, 1 percent of those polled had "no opinion."
The poll offers warning signs for the president and Republicans as they prepare for a pivotal midterm election.
