The energy regulator Ofgem has announced a higher-than-expected increase in the energy price cap with energy bills rising by £111 for a typical household per year. The announcement follows the January energy price cap increase,

Energy prices are rising yet again after Ofgem hiked the cap by 6.4%. Annual bills for electricity and gas are estimated to reach around £1,849 for the average household in England, Scotland and Wales from April 1.

The Ofgem price cap does not put a limit on how much you can pay for energy - instead, it sets the maximum you can be charged for unit rates and standing charges
