MANILA – The Philippine weather agency has issued a warning of life-threatening storm surges up to 5 meters and destructive winds as Typhoon Fung-wong approaches the country’s eastern coast. The typhoon is expected to intensify into a super typhoon before making landfall on Sunday night.
Typhoon signals have been raised in parts of Luzon and Visayas as early as Friday and Saturday as Uwan, internationally known as Fung-wong, continued to move over the Philippine Sea closer to the Bicol Region.
