Airplanes themselves are engineering marvels and their landing gear are equally impressive. Tilted landing gears might look odd, but they have a purpose.

A United Airlines flight from Chicago O'Hare to San Juan was forced back to the gate after the pilot reportedly spilled coffee in the cockpit. The incident occurred while the plane was taxiing and caused a three-hour delay.

Pilot Mark Finkelstein was safely rescued after the single-engine aircraft he was flying crashed into the ocean in North Carolina on Aug. 2, the Oak Island Fire Department stated in a news release.

The 37-page NTSB report is shedding light on the pilots’ desperate attempts to find a safe place to land before the 2024 crash that killed both of them.
