Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced Monday that his office was filing a lawsuit against a tree service company for price gouging during disaster cleanup.

Tim Griffin is suing Capital City Tree Service, a Little Rock tree-trimming company, and its owners for allegedly price gouging customers after tornadoes hit.

Nearly four years after initially filing a complaint with the Arkansas attorney general's office regarding a natural gas bill for more than $238,000, the Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission was informed "that no price gouging occurred.

The lawsuit accuses Capital City Tree Service of illegal price gouging as the company "routinely charged for more $20,000 for tree removal" during tornado recovery.

The Arkansas tree removal company is accused of targeting older clients to pay the drastically inflated prices during states of emergency, the lawsuit said.
