As the DC Universe continues to get further into its run, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn confirms the status of a supposedly dead major character.

James Gunn gave DC Comics fans their first look at Milly Alcock’s take on classic character Supergirl today. Well, our first look at her back. Well, our first look at part of the back of her head. Still, you can already hear those John Williams trumpets a-blowin’!

In 2023, before Aquaman, DC released Blue Beetle. The movie was a massive box office flop and it isn’t part of the new DCU. But the Blue Beetle hero featured in the movie is in fact part of the DCU, and the actor who played him will return in the future in an animated series that will reference the movie, but will be a canon adventure in the DCU.

Along with Superman and Peacemaker post-production work, James Gunn shared that he's been "pre-writing my next DC Studios project."

In a post on Bluesky, Gunn announced that cameras have begun to roll on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow starring House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. He also shared a photo of Alcock sitting in her actor's chair, so technnically it's a first look at the character.
