Community leaders and immigrant families protested federal agents’ presence in Charlotte as agents drove around the city taking people.

A top Border Patrol commander is touting dozens of arrests in North Carolina’s largest city on Sunday as Charlotte residents report encounters with federal immigration agents near churches and apartment complexes.

North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein spoke on Sunday evening about the Border Patrol activity in Charlotte over the weekend, saying that the actions of agents have been "stoking fear" and are "racial profiling.

"We've seen masked, heavily armed agents in paramilitary garb driving unmarked cars, targeting American citizens based on their skin color."
