The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 7 p.m. on Saturday in effect until 10 p.m. for Armstrong, Indiana and Westmoreland counties.

For the remainder of today, we will be on the storm watch. There is a chance for severe storms until roughly 9pm, especially south of Chicago. If we have a severe storm, all threats are possible including torrential rain, tornadoes, and damaging wind.

Severe storms moving into the Chicago area are bringing dangerous flash flood threats on Friday afternoon. There is a flash flood warning in effect for Cook and DuPage counties until 2:45 p.m. A ground stop has been issued at O'Hare Airport as storms move into the area.

The warning was issued for Leavenworth County. "The heavy rain has ended. Flash Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining road closures," according to the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until 8:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service released a flash flood warning at 8:38 a.m. on Friday in effect until 11:30 a.m. for Greene County.

Since January, more than 3,100 flash flood warnings have been issued nationwide — the highest year-to-date total since tracking began for alerts in 1986.

Storm Center 7’s Ryan Marando said there is another chance for thunderstorms in the Miami Valley Sunday afternoon. Isolated strong storms are also possible. The main threat here will be heavy downpours and gusty winds. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to 90, with a heat index close to 100.
