NASCAR's seven-time world champion has blasted the sport for its "win and in" policy while rejecting road courses.
Shane van Gisbergen won the pole for the Viva Mexico 250 in qualifying on Saturday, setting the fastest time (92.776, 93.904 mph) in a session that was cut short by rain. Van Gisbergen's pole is his first of the season and the second of his Cup career.
NASCAR in Mexico City is in the books. Daniel Suárez and Shane van Gisbergen were the two winners of a historic weekend for the sport. But getting there was a challenge for several Cup and Xfinity Series teams.
