The sentencing comes nearly two years after a Maryland mother of five was attacked and killed while jogging on a path in suburban Baltimore.

A 24-year-old man from El Salvador who unlawfully entered the U.S. was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole Monday in the 2023 rape and murder of a Maryland mother of five, a case held up by President Donald Trump against the former administration’s immigration policies.

Hernandez, the convicted killer of Maryland mother Rachel Morin, was sentenced to life in prison in Harford County Circuit Court.
