Shamsud-Din Jabbar visited New Orleans's French Quarter two times prior to his New Year's Eve attack, using glasses to record the area.

The man responsible for the truck attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day that killed 14 people visited the city twice before and recorded video of the French Quarter with Meta smart glasses, an FBI official said.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar wore the same Meta smart glasses when he carried out his New Year’s Day attack, but there’s no indication he was recording, authorities said.

Jabbar was killed in a shoot-out with police after crashing his truck into a forklift on Bourbon Street. Improvised explosive devices were later found farther up the street. A transmitter believed to be a detonator was found in the truck with Jabbar. Officials say he was wearing Meta glasses at the time of his attack but had not turned them on.
