The Detroit Red Wings have ample cap space and holes on their roster and are feeling urgency as their playoff hopes fade during a four-game skid. But general manager Steve Yzerman still isn’t prepared to part with high draft picks and premium prospects for rental players and a potential short-term boost.

Mrazek, 33, was a 2010 fifth-round draft pick of the Wings. He was traded to Philadelphia in 2018, he and went on to Carolina, Toronto and Chicago before being reacquired Friday by the Wings.
