New Year’s Eve will be the final chance for Oregonians to see the northern lights in their state in 2024. While Monday night t he view line to see the lights extended into the state, on Tuesday night the line will just skim Oregon’s borders with Washington and Idaho.

The northern lights may be visible in parts of the United States after sundown on New Year’s Eve, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The best time to view the northern lights are between 10 p.m. and 2 p.m. local time, according to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center.
