Beni is a baby southern pudu — the fawn of the smallest deer species in the world! Native to the forests of Chile and Argentina, these tiny deer are known for being shy, swift, and unbelievably adorable. At birth, a baby pudu is only about the size of a guinea pig, with white spots on its fur that help it blend into the forest floor. They’re born with their eyes open and can stand and walk within minutes! As they grow, their spots slowly fade, and they develop the reddish-brown coat of an adult.
