This clip shows the California condor's amazing reflexes and agility. The prey-go-neesh (condor) is part of the Northern California Condor Restoration Program (NCCRP) flock. The NCCRP is a partnership between the Yurok Tribe and Redwood National and State Parks (NPS). The Tribe and park released the first birds in 2022. Prior to the reintroduction, the last local observation of a condor occurred in 1892. The bird was killed and placed in a museum. Now, there are 17 free-flying condors in Yurok C

Take an inside look at the decades-long effort to save the California condor! By 1982, only 22 California condors survived in the wild. As of last year, thanks to countless partners teaming up for a breeding program, there were nearly 350 of North America’s largest birds in the wild. At The Peregrine Fund’s World Center for Birds of Prey outside Boise, Idaho, partners have raised more than 300 California condors. “What’s remarkable is that they’re really raising the future of the California cond

Zoo began an intensive breeding and reintroduction program, which has seen the California condor population climb to more than 550 individuals—with more than half of those birds li

Condor 1111 is Zion National Park's second wild-fledged California condor and one of 110 members of the Arizona-Utah condor population.
