On the first day of early voting in New Orleans, 6,230 Black voters, 3,752 white voters, and 558 other voters cast their ballots. Black voters are leading early turnout — and with 135,598 still registered to vote, the power to decide the next mayor and council is clear. Only 4% of voters have participated so far.
