OperaQ is thrilled to present La Maupin, an opera film telling the true(ish) life story of queer singer Julie d’Aubigny, also known as Mlle Maupin, who delighted seventeenth century audiences with her scandalous adventures on and off the stage. Led by the team who brought you Medusa’s Children (a finalist for Opera America’s 2022 Digital Excellence in Opera Award), La Maupin was created by queer and non-binary artists for queer and trans people, as a reminder that we’ve been around for centuries
