"Hard turning the face of a D2 spindle rotor at 58 HRC. The 5C collet taper was bored in this setup as well. Needed a cleanup for a surface to measure from for the second setup. The part will be pressed onto a mandrel for turning the ODs and facing both sides in one setup to ensure parallelism. Sumitomo BNC2010 CNMA433, 0.004” DOC, 0.0025”/rev, 400 sfpm. These inserts are not recommended for tool steel, but I have not had problems when the setup is rigid. The finish with these is pretty good. La
