Scientists from the Schmidt Ocean Institute recently encountered a giant phantom jellyfish more than 800 feet deep in the Pacific near the Colorado-Rawson submarine canyon. It’s an extremely rare find: Only 118 sightings of this jellyfish have been recorded in the past 110 years. It’s believed, however, to be widespread in every ocean except the Arctic. | Popular Science
